• Albizia is a genus of approximately 150 species of mostly fast-growing subtropical and tropical trees and shrubs in the Subfamily Mimosoideae of the legume family, Fabaceae.
• The genus is pantropical and can be found in Asia, Africa, Madagascar, Central, and southern North America and Australia.
  
• The tree is considered a weed as it is able to colonise large areas easily.
• The tree grows rapidly. Thus, it is prone to brittle branches that can drop easily. Also, its fast growth results in cavities in the trunk that is a natural habitat for many birds.
• The tree is part of the legume family, which is known for its ability to fix nitrogen, it can thrive well in abandoned land where there is nutrient poor soil areas due to the removal of the fertile topsoil.
